Steven D. High is the President and founder of High Environmental Health and Safety Consulting Ltd. Steve holds a BS in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College, an MS in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master in Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He completed post-baccalaureate certificates in epidemiology and bio-statistics through Drexel University and Occupational & Environmental Hygiene through Johns Hopkins. Steve is a board Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and board Certified Safety Professional (CSP). He holds the designation of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from the Institutes. He is a Pennsylvania State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Steve has been an OSHA Authorized Instructor for General Industry and Construction Safety Courses since 1990. He is also certified as a construction health and safety technician (CHST).  As an active trainer, Steve and enjoys sharing information in the realm of safety and health with his students.

Steve is certified as a XL tribometrist (CXLT) and has conducted research in the area of slip-resistance. Steve regularly evaluates walking surfaces, floor treatments and footwear for slip-resistance. He serves as an expert witness in slip and fall cases as well as in other OSHA, safety and health exposure litigation.  His work experience includes over thirty years in occupational safety and health. Steve was the Corporate Manager of Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Services for the High Companies prior to starting the consulting business. He is a co-authored “Chapter 27 – Electrical Safety” in the Safety Professional’s Handbook and he has written multiple chapters for the PA Chamber’s OSHA Handbook.

Steve served in various positions with the Lancaster County Industrial Safety Council, including the Council’s presidency in 1990. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Mr. High is a member of the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) F-13 committee on walking surfaces. He is on the Industry Advisory Board for Millersville University’s Occupational Safety & Health Management degree program. He served on the Governors’ Occupational Safety & Health Conference Advisory Committee and was a member of the Advisory Boards for PENNSAFE and WorkSafe PA for the State.
